Do this one time and the app remembers it. Measure 30 ft with the iPhone Measure app (or count 15 ceiling tiles of 2 ft), then walk it with normal steps.

📐 3 · Rooms and areas
Add every area you will clean. Pick how you measured it — steps, heel-to-toe, feet (iPhone / tape) or ceiling tiles. Use × for identical rooms (e.g. 6 offices).
Calibrate first. Most adults cover 2.3–2.7 ft per normal step. Your real number is what counts — walk 30 ft and count.
Walk normal, not long. Same pace you walk every day. Count out loud. Walk wall to wall, touching the wall at both ends.
Walk it twice. If the two counts differ by more than 1 step, walk it a third time and use the middle number.
Small rooms → heel-to-toe. Restrooms, closets and janitor rooms: put one shoe in front of the other and count shoes. Much more exact than steps.
Look up — ceiling tiles. Drop ceilings are almost always 2 × 2 ft or 2 × 4 ft tiles. Count tiles along each wall: that is the room, already in feet.
Floor tiles are usually 12 × 12 in (1 ft) or 18 × 18 in. Commercial carpet tiles are 24 × 24 in.
iPhone Measure app (comes on the iPhone): open it, point at one wall, tap +, walk to the other wall, tap +. Best for long walls and hallways up to ~15 ft at a time — repeat and add.
Odd shapes (L or T): split into rectangles and add each as its own room.
Don't subtract desks, shelving or fixtures — cleaning square footage is wall to wall.
Restrooms: also count toilets, urinals and sinks — they drive the cleaning time more than square feet.
Sanity check: the sum of the rooms should be close to (a bit less than) the outside length × width × floors. Walls and mechanical rooms take 5–10%.
Accuracy: steps ≈ ±5–10 %, heel-to-toe ≈ ±3 %, tiles / iPhone ≈ ±2 %. Good enough to quote; confirm with the client's drawings when you can.

Sources: . Labor to revenue = (vendor pay + direct hire pay) ÷ revenue. DH pay comes from the monthly TimeMD report; until it is loaded, the Flagstar / PNC Master DH budget or the last finance report is used. “EST” = revenue estimated from payable ÷ labor ratio (no billing in 1DMS).
